A very popular evergreen tree, ficus nitida makes an attractive addition to the landscape where it has a place. Reaching a height of 8-9 feet tall at a moderate to rapid pace, the new green growth is stunning against the older, darker foliage. It will need constant cutting or pruning and can be maintained with constant care. It does well in coastal conditions and is deer resistant. Requires adequate sunlight to thrive, prefers direct sunlight the most. However, the tree can survive in an area with indirect or partial sunlight. Too little sunlight would lead to stunted growth. They require regular watering to stay strong and healthy. But you have to be careful when watering the evergreen so that you don't leave its roots in the pool of water. Watering should be done after you are sure that the soil is almost dry.
